Oso Creek Trail

We did some hiking today.  We've been here quite a few times, but have taken a different route each time we've gone.  Today we tackled the trail and the plant maze followed by a little picnic.

Notice the glasses above the eyes :)

A look at a typical evening in the Geiger household :)  And just a glimpse of Casen's huge personality that we love.

Thankful Thursday

I recently deleted facebook.  With Caleb just getting home from deployment I was realizing that I have much more important things to focus my time on....and realistically most of the things I read or saw on facebook made me more upset or annoyed then glad I was seeing them.  I'll miss seeing updated pictures from family...so send them my way :)
I'm going to do my best to keep this updated with new pictures and news on our family.

Today is a pretty easy Thankful Thursday.  This time last week was my first day home with my husband in 7 months.  Here's a few pictures of adventures of this week.

Cheesecake factory and shopping date

Walks and Starbucks during long waits

In N Out lunch after church

Irvine Spectrum....such an awesome place!

How many people can Caleb carry at once :)
I got new pots and pans!

The sweetest thing I have ever seen

Green Monster Smoothies?

Check them out here

Anyone heard anything about them?
I've been doing some reading and thinking about adding them to my daily routine.  They seem to have a lot of benefits and supposedly are delicious as well.

I haven't been able to find night stands anywhere (within reasonable price range)  that are tall enough for our bed.  I have to have some sort of stands to put my little things and books on so i've been looking for awhile.  We had one of these around our house that seemed to be the perfect height. (If you don't have one lying around your house they're only about $20.)
But they're not really something that looks that nice for a night stand.  So yesterday I found some pretty (on clearance) fabric and covered it up.
I think it works pretty nicely and it really ties in with our new room.  It's making things a little easier to pull together.  And added bonus, there's tons of hidden storage with all those empty drawers.  It's holding my hubbys welcome home basket pretty nicely at the moment :)

Now onto all the little details.  I think the curtains are actually going to help the most, but i'm not brave enough to attempt to hang them alone.

A Big Boy Room

When we came back from New York I decided to switch Casen from his crib to a bed while I had some help.  We already had a full bed in his room for a guest room, so I just transitioned him to that one.  I wanted to go for a frog/pond theme, but just couldn't find anything to tie it all together.  After a long time of searching we stumbled upon the perfect bedding set in target...(added bonus it was on clearance.)  So he got the bedding and some accessories from the collection and the rest I just kind of used from what he already had.
I forgot to take before pictures....but if you've seen it, you'll know it's a huge change.  There's only so much I can do without being able to paint the walls or hang curtains!

So here's Casen's new big boy room:

As you walk in

Dada's picture from Afghanistan fits in perfect :)

Finally found a rug that could work for a pond/water...sorta :/

I love his little lamp and piggy bank

$5 tubs from WalMart are his temporary toy bins :)

And mama's a cheap-o so, I painted with 99 cent paint on $2 foam board  for the "artwork" he gets in his room haha

Slow Progress...

It seems like i've been stuck on our bedroom forever.  I found curtains that I really want to hang, but think I will wait until my handy man comes home :)  I can't seem to find any art that I like and I can't find any cloth to cover our stands.
                                      .....So there it sits unfinished.

A sweet lady made us a sign for over our head board to replace our black and white one...I'm not sure if I love it yet, but for around $10 if I find something I love in the future, it can easily be replaced.  I will say it looks much better in person.  All the letters have different designs that don't show up on camera.
I realize its hanging a little crooked.  I'm sick of putting holes in our wall, so it will stay crooked until I have a second pair of eyes to help me.  And we got the super cute canvas from my brother and sister-in-law for Christmas!

Another girl made us this I love you banner that I love.  Unfortunately it's too small for over our bed and on the empty wall, but too big to hang over our door...so i'm really trying to find a place for it.  Maybe over our dresser/tv?

So...i'm feeling uninspired to finish and will probably just throw something together before Caleb gets home and we can do all the little details together.  At least we have a pretty bed :-)

Casen's room is all most finished!  It's nothing special, but i'm hoping to get pictures up shortly.
