January

Besides snow days and birthdays, here's our january.

We spent some warmer days at the park

We had some cousin time.  Benny and jo were the doctors, not sure what aryas fate was.

Caleb took us on a Chinese date to celebrate the Pats win!  Win or lose now we don't mind, we're just super excited to get to enjoy the superbowl so much.

Everyone eats lunch in a vikings hat, right?

We did some hiking on a new trail.

Mostly I just love how candidly cute caleb looks in this one :)

Caleb knows how hard his work schedule is on the kids.  He had some extra work time coming up so we made the trip to Monkey Joes.  The kids had a blast!

This was a super nice reminder as I was getting in the car while he was away at work.

And casen had a reading symposium at school.  They had to pick a book and dress up like the character and do basically a book report of sorts.  He, of course, picked a book about fishing.

Little Critter A Day at the Pond

And I had to throw this one in there.  While we were waiting for Jo's class.  My beautiful baby, who I cannot believe will be 4 in a couple weeks!

Calebs Birthday

Caleb had to work the night before and the night of his birthday, so technically speaking, he worked twice during his birthday.  It sucks with midnight shift and it makes it really hard to make his day special, but he's a champ and didn't even complain.

I think the first 5 years in the Marines has helped a ton in realizing sometimes you just have to get creative and think of different ways to celebrate.

He goes into work at 7pm so I sent him with a box he couldn't open until midnight when it was now technically his birthday.  I had him open cards on the 29th minute of most of the hours he worked and filled the box with goodies to make it through.

When he came home we of course had cheesy birthday decorations and his actual presents for him.

My parents sent him venison sticks with his birthday gift.  He was pretty excited.

After dinner we got to enjoy the pie.
He's just so cute!

And then off to work he went again.

Thankfully he had the next day off and we really celebrated.  The patriots game was on so caleb made us some delicious wings and we invited Tyler and katie to come down to celebrate with us.  It, as always, was a complete blast and I got zero pictures of all the escapades, but I think every night we were up until 3am and im pretty sure we were laughing 99 percent of that time.  It was a great birthday weekend!

Calebs salute to service jersey was his christmas present from me this year that I never got a picture of :)

Happy birthday to my most favorite human on this planet.  I'll post pictures of whatever celebrations we have later, but today I just wanted to write a little note for my love.

What an awesome year 28  has been for you.  If it's even possible you've become and even better husband and dad, just a couple days ago bringing flowers in the door with you after working a long 12 hour day on a supposed to be day off and after functioning on little to no sleep taking casen out to test the new football gloves you got him.

You've excelled in everything you've done this year, receiving 4 awards through the police department, one of which was for saving a week old baby from death. (In other words, I basically married superman.)

You go most days being under appreciated and most people choose not to take the time to see, but it doesn't matter, you continue to be the most loving, caring, and best person you can be.  You make love easy.  Thank you for being you.

(Also, your ginormous muscles don't hurt,  have you guys seen them lately? Seriously, tripled in size in year 28.)  Kiddinggg...kinda.

Here's to year 29 with you.  I hope it's your best year yet....and that next year you don't have to be stuck at work instead of celebrating.

Snow Day

I normally do the monthly update, but when you have a snow day in Virginia you have to document it.

It seems in the 3 years we've been here once a year we get hit with snow enough to shut down the county.  Saturday was only 8 inches.  But we still had a lot of fun going out in it.  And jo has a day off school for at least today, maybe more.

Our California baby was so fascinated.  She sat there from the time she woke up until we finally went outside.

And then we got to come into the warm with hot cocoa, popcorn, and a movie

It was an awesome day!
