2014 Picture Review

At the end of last year I labeled 2014 as the year of settling in, and that's just what it's been.

It has been an awesome, crazy, one of a kind year of settling in.

Here's a picture review of year 2014 for the Geiger clan.

In January we moved into our first home and began the makeover.  It's been a long road and we still aren't done, but stay tuned this coming month for all of our current progress pictures.

We celebrated our littles turning 1 and 4

We found some new local spots to enjoy some days off

Caleb and I celebrated 5 year of marriage

In August we celebrated Caleb's graduation from the police academy and continued to celebrate in November when he passed his boards :)

We also got to head to New York to attend my sister's wedding and have also enjoyed there move down here this year

And to end the year we hosted our first Thanksgiving and for the first time ever we stayed at our own place for Christmas and enjoyed a quiet day as a family

I am ready to see what next year brings.  Our next years always seem to top the last.

We hope you had a great Christmas!  We enjoyed having our first Christmas in our home.  I barely took any pictures, so I will hopefully get some of the kids playing with all their loot.  We had our annual Christmas Eve Pjs, a big Christmas breakfast, everyone was spoiled, especially this mama, Fossil, diamonds, Patriots, Birch Box, shoes...my perfect list :)  And we got to enjoy a lunch of new york goodies thanks to my parents.  We finished the evening with a big Christmas dinner of roast and ham, fun games, and chestnuts for dessert.  I'm thankful Morgan and Tim go to spend the day with us!  Can't wait for many more holidays in our home and with this family.

It's looking a lot like Christmas in the Geiger household.  This is our first Christmas in our home and really the only Christmas we've stayed put and actually opened gifts on the 25th.  We're looking forward to a relaxing day hanging out in our Christmas Eve PJs :)

Here's a look around our house.  We've held off on buying too many decorations in the years past because we knew eventually we'd have a home to decorate and wanted to buy decor that fit with that home instead of our many apartments.  We have big plans for after Christmas clearance so we'll be set for next year.  So, while this years minimal in the decor factor, we definitely have that Christmas feeling around here.

Stay tuned after Christmas for pictures of our small family room face lift.

We go as a family and pick out an ornament every year.  This was this years winner.

the perfect chicken

So this rub recipe i'm about to share would pretty much make any meat perfect, but especially a whole roasted chicken.  I also adapted it at Thanksgiving and used it for a turkey rub, just throw some poultry seasoning into the mix, and voila (it also makes some pretty great tasting gravy.)

Spice Rub:
- 1 Tbsp Paprika
- 1 Tbsp Salt
- 2 Tbsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Cayenne Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Cumin
- 1 Tbsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
- 2 Tbsp Garlic Powder

Mix it all together and you have a most delicious rub.

Now put it on some chicken and roast it in the oven and you will have another perfect cold weather meal.
