Random Picture Update

No new news to report here.  We've had some nice weather and are continuing to pluck away at the little things that still need doing around here.  This weekend hopefully we'll finally get the second bathroom painted.  The kids and Caleb have been sick for about 2 weeks now so it has been slow going.

The kids are definitely enjoying having our own space.  And I am loving being able to just slip on their shoes and walk out the door to let them run around (instead of getting them both dressed, running the stroller down for the third floor, running back upstairs and carrying one and coaxing the other one down those three flights of stairs again.)

We finally have signs of spring :)  We noticed these plants shortly after we moved here but didn't know what they'd be.  They're completely lining the side of our garage and we discovered they'll be daffodils and in front of them it looks like we'll have a nice line of iris'.  Thanks previous owners!

We had some really nice weather so we headed back up to Maymont for a picnic.  I can't wait for everything to be in bloom.  It is so pretty there.
Arya was obviously thrilled to go

And then we headed home and they had to test out the new ball dada got them :)

And last but not least...Casen has started doing some school work here with me during the day.  He's surprising me with how focused he stays and he loves it.

The (almost) Finished Master

If it was only up to me our room would've been painted the color we ended up using in our bathrooms.  If it was only up to Caleb our room would've been black... Soo we compromised and went somewhere in the middle.  Sorry about the horrible quality of pictures.  My camera battery died as soon as I turned it on so these are all from my phone.  And we went with thin curtains so they do not photograph well.

I say almost finished master because we'd still like to put a rug of some sort in.  Unfortunately I'm a little indecisive about it.  I can't decide if I want a big rug that goes underneath the bed and out the sides, an area run on the open space to the left side of the bed and a runner for the other side, or just a runner on both sides.  Besides that, I can't decide if I want to go with another opportunity for a pop of color and pull the green out of the comforter for the rug, or put a nice mainly cream rug in. (thoughts?)  I love our floors so i'm not sure how much I want them covered, but stepping onto a squishy warm carpet first thing in the morning is pretty nice too.

I forgot to take before pictures, but it was just like the rest of the house, beige.

Again, excuse the quality
View from the door

Soo when picking out comforters this probably wouldn't have been my first choice.  However, it was a 100 dollar comforter marked down to 15 dollars...how exactly do you pass that up?  I didn't really care what color it was.  Thankfully, I really like how it fits in with the room.  And for 15 dollars, how long does it really have to last?

Caleb and my thing is Smallville.  So the perfect place to put it is in our bedroom.  It doesn't mess with the look because you can't see it looking in our door, but it adds a little bit of a fun personal touch to our space

My attempt at a picture collage...

The door in this one leads to the upstairs bathroom.

Eventually i'd like to put a vanity in this corner

Another room down!

A Little Visitor

A little visitor snuck in last night....

Or so Casen thinks.

Some call me crazy and a little over the top with holidays, but i'm okay with that because we have fun with it :)

I still remember in kindergarten searching high and low around the school for the leprechaun that knocked over all of our chairs and left trails of gold dust.  I never thought it would end up being a holiday I enjoy as an adult.  But now that I have kids of my own, it's so much fun to see the excitement Casen has about leprechauns.

He woke up this morning and followed the trail

He enjoyed what the leprechaun left behind

And we attempted to do a craft together.  They didn't turn out quite as planned and were way more difficult then I thought they'd be, but he loved them and said he is having the best day...and that's all the matters.

Failed in the picture department....again

We had visitors and as usual my camera wasn't doing it's job.

We had such a nice time with Sarah, Doug, and the girls.  Casen can't wait for "next time."  I'm thankful they really are coming back in August!

Arya's Room Before and After

 Before:

After:

Until we get another black curtain on the smaller window I can't get the true colors to show for this room.  The color is Wild Watermelon by Behr.  It is more coral and less orange then the pictures look.  My original plan for this room was for it to be a mauve purple color with all the black and white accents.  In one of our 100 trips to Home Depot Caleb and I stumbled on this color and he was way more impressed.  I probably took a little more convincing, but now that we have the end result i'm really happy we went with this color.  Hopefully she doesn't hate it when she's old enough to have an opinion about her room :)  And eventually her room will be more  filled with all of the things my grandpa built for me to take care of my babies...when our trips home done involve an already full car.

House Progress...(or lack of)

Soo by now I should be posting all the before and after photos of a complete house.  Alas, that is not going to be happening in the near future.

  • The downstairs bathroom is all we have left to paint.  It will be the same color as the upstairs one with different colored accents.  We're just waiting for a good time to be down to one bathroom for a week to let it thoroughly dry
  • I still need to find some curtains and a rug I like for the Master and we aka caleb need to hang Arya's awesome curtain. (thanks for the find Liz.)
  • Our loveseat should be arriving shortly for the family room and after that I can officially get started with decorating our most used room.
That's about it.  We're just tying up all the lose ends.  All the initial things are done and we've run out of gas for a little bit.  My brain is tired of searching and thinking about patterns and colors and all that goes into making a house a home.

We'll get there, just not quite yet :)

With some help (so thankful for visiting inlaws) we were able to paint arya's room and they both got new dressers; blueberry and vanilla cream (since when did dressers come with such fun names?)

She went from boring beige

To cheery coral (more pictures to follow of the full finished product)

Soon I will at least have a kid's room update.  The rest...i'm not so sure :p
