7 months....when did that happen
I shouldn't already be writing Arya's 7 month update. She's too little for that. She's supposed to stay my baby forever :) I couldn't wait for Casen to get bigger and loved watching him grow, but since Arya is our last, this growing up thing is no fun...well it kind of is with all the personality that comes with it, but she can't!
At 7 months she:
- Weighs 16 lbs (20th percentile) She looks like a little chunker so I was surprised she's so little on the charts.
- 28 inches long (95th percentile!) How to I end up with such long babies
- Still scooting, she does want to crawl so bad, but she's not there yet.
- Saying mama
- She claps, high fives, and waves. Her favorite is clapping though. She is pretty proud of herself.
- She has one tooth that we see. I'm guessing that second bottom one isn't too far behind, but who knows.
- She now loves baby food (and whatever dada gets away with giving her, especially icecream.) She says mmm when she sees someone eating and gets upset if she doesn't get a piece of whatever it is.
- Right now she has THE cutest raspy little voice, that I kinda hope sticks. She's had it for a couple months now so it's a possibility.
- Still in 6-9 month clothes and has moved up to size 3 diapers.
- Still not sleeping through the night. On good nights I get an 11-4:30 stretch.
- She'll still laugh at just about anything Casen says or does.
We're biased, but we think she's the cutest....cuz she is :D

Any thoughts?
I can't get Arya to stop digging behind her ears. I didn't real think much of it until after her nap today when I found this
It seems like she started doing it when the teething started happening, which I know is normal, but now she does it a ton in her sleep.
Any help? Her nails are clipped so i'm not sure how she managed this one.

6 Months!
I can't believe Arya is already 6 months old....she was born half a year ago, yikes. My last baby isn't staying a baby long enough.
At 6 months she is
-Sitting up perfectly. She doesn't need help anymore.
-Scooting to get the things she wants. (It's crazy how different kids develop. Casen was a crawling machine at this age and in a couple weeks started furniture surfing. Arya is perfectly content sitting still and playing with her toys. Makes her stay a baby a little while longer :))
-Her eyes have turned brown.
-Size 2 diapers
-Transitioning between 3-6 and 6-9 month clothes.
-She's kinda over her pacifier. She uses it for a little bit while she goes to sleep at night, but spits it out shortly after and won't take it back in the night.
-Still sleeps in her crib. No more breastfeeding pillow. She rolls herself to the side and curls up with a -blanket and falls asleep on her own. Currently she's been sleeping from 11 to 4:30 eats and goes back to sleep until around 7:30. (Unless she has a bad night teething.)
-Speaking of which, no teeth yet, but her gums are still swollen and she bites down so hard on things her whole body shakes...so they must be coming.
-She yells.....allll day long. She started losing her voice about 4 days ago from yelling so much and it's still raspy because she never stops yelling enough for it to heal. I wonder how long it'll be like that.
-She loves her oatmeal cereal. She has that 3 times a day. We're trying to get her to eat other baby food, but she's not a fan of anything else so far, (what kid doesn't like pears or bananas.)
-Her brother is still the best thing on the planet. They are the cutest together.
She's such a little ham and we love her!

5 Months
Arya is now 5 months old...yikes...time is flying by.
It was really hard for me to enjoy Casen being litttle because he was crying 95 percent of the time. (I love him to death and always have, but the newborn time was not a very fun time :p) Arya is such a happy baby! It's been really nice to get to enjoy the little baby stage. She's started teething so she's a little more grumpy then normal, but still, such a happy little girl.
She has a love a rolling. Before she'd just do it once every once in awhile, but now she realizes she can get places by rolling.
She's sitting up for short periods of time.
She's standing leaning on things.
She's still in size 2 diapers and wears clothes anywhere from 3 to 6 months.
She's moved into a crip, but still sleeps in her breastfeeding pillow. We tried a couple nights without it, but she didn't sleep as well.
She is almost completely transitioned to formula. I'm bummed since she nursed so well that my milk didn't stick around...but we got a good 4 months in and she's full and happy.
She's not sleeping well at night. She's been getting up around 3 to 4 times, but I think it's teething more then anything. She still goes to down for naps and sleep all on her own. I just lay her down when she starts rubbing her eyes and she puts herself to sleep. (Yay!)
She had her first cereal...she's not quite sure what to think. But she does love gnawing on cucumbers, carrots, celery, and strawberries.
She's getting so big and learning new things all the time. Her and Casen play more together, which is so fun to watch. I can't imagine our lives without her :)

4 Months
The little lady is 4 months old today :)
I think month 3 to 4 has brought the biggest changes.
She's rolling over. She's found her voice...and uses it...alll the time. She's in size 2 diapers. She's still kind of between 0-3 and 3-6 month clothes, but mostly on to the big girl stuff. She's about 13 pounds, (we haven't been to the doctors to get an exact measurement.) She grabs at things and plays with toys, even though they frustrate her quite a bit.) She still lovess Casen.
My milk supply is slowly taking a turn for the worse, so she's transitioning over to formula. We started out only have to give it to her once a day and she's up to about 3 times a day so I think it's only going to get worse. I had the same problem with Casen. She does nurse really well still when we can. As long as she's healthy i'm okay with it.
She usually wakes up about twice a night. I get 4 hour stretches of sleep in though, so it's not so bad. She still only wakes up to eat and falls asleep eating less then 5 minutes later. She's still sleeping in her breastfeeding pillow in her crib. I just lay her down and she falls asleep on her own. Her newest habit is pulling the blanket up by her face or over her face and then she is out.
We love her so much and I can't wait to see the changes she has this coming month, although i'd like her to stay my baby forever

3 Months
Arya is 3 months old today!
I can't believe how much she's grown.
I don't have any stats on her because she doesn't have a doctor's appointment this month.
She's grown so much. She's kind of in between 0-3 and 3-6 month clothes, some stuff fits and some doesn't. She's still in size 1 diapers for now.
Her favorite thing to do is watch Casen and she's started to try and grab things.
Next doctors appointment and shots will be at 4 months.

2 Months
I can't believe Arya is 2 months already. Time is flying.
She had her check up yesterday. All is well. She was 10lbs 13 oz and 23 inches long (53rd percentile for weight and 77th percentile for length.) She's still wearing 0-3 month clothes and probably will be for another month or so. She's looking a lot more like me then as a newborn. We love her little personality. She's full of attitude and smiles. She loves her dad and Casen. She'll lay and watch them forever and she looks for them whenever she hears their voices. Next appointment won't be until 4 months.

6 weeks check up
She went in for her 6 week check up today.
She weighed 10lbs 3oz, so exactly 2 pounds heavier then birth.
She's right on track developmentally. Cooing and smiling is about it at this point. The doctor was impressed with her grip and neck strength.
She did get put on Zantac to try and help her reflux. Stuff comes up her throat every time she eats and screams in pain so hopefully that fixes it because otherwise she is such a good and happy baby!
We go back in about 3 weeks for her next round of shots because we will be on the road or in New York by the time her next appointment should be :)

1 Month
We don't have her next appointment until she's 6 weeks, so I don't have any stats until then.
She's still such a good baby. She's in mostly newborn clothes now, but we're making the transition up. She loves her breastfeeding pillow. She sleeps in it every night. Right now she doesn't even get rocked to sleep at night. I just lay her in that and she's out for about 3-4 hours at a time. She just wakes up to eat and then I lay her right back down and she's out until the next feeding. I'm anticipating this will change as she gets a little older, but i'm hoping nott :) Casen needed to be rocked right from the start.
She's still nursing awesome. No complaints there. I can't believe how much smoother this time around is going. She has really bad gas and we've noticed that every time she eats she brings it back up and kind of chews it back down, so we're going to mention it to the doctor at the next visit. I'm thinking its probably just reflux or i'm going to have to cut dairy out of my diet. I usually pump and bring a bottle when we go out anywhere, just a personal preference, and I really like the Nuk bottles and pacifiers, which I guess I need to mention that she loves her pacifier! That should make our road trip a little easier.
That's about it for this update. Not much happens in the first couple months. She's battling some sort of cold type sickness these past couple days and its the saddest thing to see.
I didn't even attempt to get a good picture since she can barely breath

42 weeks :)
Only 5 pounds to go til pre-baby weight (nursing does wonders)....and then the diet and exercise begin! And we have one healthy little lady. She's back up to her birth weight and is such a blessing to us.
And to any moms currently nursing or planning on it, please check out Gilligan & OMalley nursing camis. They are awesome!!

Arya had her first trip to the doctors. It would have been the day they normally release us from the hospital so the pediatrician wanted to check her out one more time.
All looks great. She's down to 7lbs 9oz. She has the tiniest bit of jaundice, but not enough to worry about. Other then that she's good to go :) We don't have to go back for another 2 weeks.
She's sleeping pretty well, eating really well, and is starting to be awake a little more often. I think the newborn coma is officially ending.

Arya Morgan's Birth Story
As the little lady sits here squirming and eating away, I figured I should probably get her birth story written out before I forget.
Friday morning we had an ultrasound to determine if she was over 9 pounds, in which case I would be scheduled for a c-section. After all their measurments they determined her around 7lbs 12 oz, give or take a half a pound. The Dr. told us if she was right on, Arya would probably be about Casen's size by his due date. If she was wrong she could hit the 9lb mark. So we didn't need to do a csection, but were still planning a scheduled induction.
Sunday morning I woke up in horrible pain. I wasn't sure what it was because the pain wasn't coming with any contractions. Sunday night I called my dr to double check and she said if there weren't any contractions just to wait through the night and come in early to my appointment the next day to get checked out.
Monday morning came and the pain was still there, although not as intense. We went to our 39 week appointment. She was asking me what day would be best to schedule the induction while she was doing her exam and said, nevermind, you are 4cm and in labor we'll be sending you to the hospital from here. This wasn't in the plans at all for us so we had to rush home and pack Casen's bag, drop him off at our friend's house, and were supposed to be back to the hospital within the hour.
We got to the hospital and got all checked in around 11. After 3 IV attempts we were all settled in and I was about 5 cm. I was definitely starting to feel them. A couple popcicles later and another cm down, the nurses let me know my dr planned to break my water around 3 to get things moving along so now would be the time to get an epidural if I wanted one. I knew she was going to be big and Casen's birth was not so pleasant so I decided before we even got there I wanted one :) Epidural done, water broke, we were good to go. I felt awesome the entire time. I told Caleb when I was around 9 and a half that I felt like I could take a nap. It was such a better experience!
I went from 6 to 8 in 20 minutes and was 10 around 6pm. They got everything set up and I started pushing around 6:30. On 6:40 February 11, 2013 Arya Morgan Geiger arrived weighing 8 pounds 3 ounces, 19 inches long.
She came out so fast that she didn't get the great breath that she needed to fully clear out her lungs, so she's having a bit of trouble being congested and bringing things up, but other then that is doing awesome. She started nursing about 5 minutes after being born and has had a little attitude right from the start :)
We got wheeled over to recovery I think around 10 pm that night after I finished up my IV and got the epidural removed. Caleb and baby got to stay with me the whole time, which was so nice. Unfortunately due to the flu Casen wasn't allowed to visit at all so we were really anxious to get home so we could all be together. We asked the nursing staff if being home by the next night was possible and they said their usually policy was 2 -3 days, but it was as long as everything looked good with baby. All looked good so we ended up going home less then 24 hours after she arrived.
Her whole story was perfect and has been every since. She's been sleeping well, eating well, and Casen is an awesome big brother. And her dad is pretty awesome too :D He went out grocery shopping the morning after we got home and came back with all my favorite foods along with chocolate and flowers. And the little lady definitely knows her dad. Every time she hears his voice she looks around for him.
It is so nice being a family of 4!

We've had the base of the carseat installed for a few weeks now, but figured yesterday we would check it all out and put the carseat in too. In do that, we realized pieces were missing to the carseat and we'd have to return it. So today Arya is equipped with a brand new car seat....and stroller :) We got an awesome deal on the travel system and she is good to go!
We originally had a safetyfirst onboard 35 and I really liked it, but they unfortunately didn't have it in stock at the store and we don't really have time to wait for one to be shipped. We ended up purchasing an Eddie Bauer travel system and so far are liking it even better.

Her Space
We only have a 2 bedroom apartment, one room Casen is occupying and the other is ours. We tried to figure out in the beginning where exactly we were going to put Arya. After talking about it we realized we're going to be packing up and moving when she's only 2 months old. I know most people decorate a great nursery and have big plans for baby, but in reality, for the first 2 months, baby ends up sleeping with you, in a swing, in a bassinet...anything that you can get them to sleep in :p With all that in mind, we decided until we move we'd just put her in our room with her pack n play. It's a little tight, but there's no way we're moving to a bigger apartment when we'll be moving across the country in April and I don't want her in Casen's room waking him up all night and ending up with a cranky 2 year old on top of a newborn during the day.
So, for now, here's her little space...nothing grand, but enough to get us by until we pack it all up and head to the east coast.
Now we just have to get her swing set up, which is a portable one, so it will probably get moved around the house and then get settled next to the bookcase at night. Casen lived in his the first 6 months of his life.
Now I just have to work on my hospital bags!

Her bear Casen made at build-a-bear and her little doll Mac got her for Christmas :) |
