Halloween 2014

Before I start the post on our Halloween I just wanted to say that I completely understand people's views on celebrating or not celebrating Halloween.  We choose to celebrate it.  No, we don't teach our kids to worship the devil and it's not a dark day for us.  Some of my favorite memories as a kid are bundling up with our extended family and walking the streets trick or treating no matter how cold we were.  I would like my kids to be able to have those same types of memories.  As it is our first Halloween in our home, we had fun decorating and carving pumpkins that set on our front steps.

We almost always start off  a holiday with a special breakfast so Caleb and Casen headed out yesterday morning to get some goodies.

We then ran to get Casen a costume...highly recommend waiting until the day of to get the costume, they're half price!  I have no pictures of him in his costume because he saved for later that night.  I did try to get one of Arya.  We used some of Casen's old scrubs since she's still pretty little.

Caleb ended up getting tickets through work for Marvel Universe Live.  The performance was on Halloween at 7 so trick or treating was out of the question.  We knew Casen would much rather go to Marvel, but I didn't want him to miss out on the candy and such that he'd been looking forward to.  So this year we set up a little scavenger hunt in our back yard and the kids got to hunt for candy instead of asking our neighbors for it :)  He loved it at easter and he loved it again for Halloween.  It may just become a new tradition for us.

we found these instead of eggs to keep the candy in :)

Then Uncle Ty stopped by to head to Marvel with us!

Then it was off to Marvel.  We didn't get many pictures because it was so dark all of mine ended up looking like this

But it was really cool and Casen was already asking when we could go back as we were walking out the doors.

Beauty on a Budget

So if you care nothing about makeup you can probably stop reading here.  This is a completely random post, but I just redid my makeup collection and am passing along some good deals for great products.

Does anyone else still have their makeup from high school?  Maybe i'm the only one raising my hand, but believe it or not there is a timeline for all your products and I was completely breaking the rules.

You're technically supposed to replace anything related to your eyes every 3-6 months, any sort of face powder every year, foundation 6 months to a year, and lip products every 2 years.

I'm pretty good about foundation because I normally run out, but the rest were pushing 5 years.  So I finally broke down and replaced it all, (i'm not sure how people afford to keep up with it all....and I buy on a budget.)

So here's my strong suggestions for beauty on a budget.

First, organization.
I wish I would've had a before picture.  Every piece of makeup I owned was shoved into a travel bag.  You can imagine the mess of powder lining the bottom and the amount of digging it took to find what I was looking for.  My husband bought me a beautiful vanity that makes my life a million times easier.  So if you have some available counter space I'm highly recommending this to keep you organized.

Here's my stuff all put in some sort of order.

Next onto foundation.  I will say, I've tried the really cheap stuff and was extremely disappointed and I didn't even realize how disappointed until I found this stuff.  I know i'm cheap but I hated even paying 10 dollars for it at first, but now realize it is so worth it.  And considering most professional foundations are at least 40 dollars, it's a really good deal.

Eyes
I really suggest you look into the e.l.f. line of beauty products.  I get them at target, but i'm sure they're carried elsewhere.  They are super budget friendly and I really like how they work.  That's what I use for eyeliner, and most shadows.  I've also bought their primer and concealer.  I just purchased this off amazon because of the great price.  I purchased the every day collection, but the natural one I think will be my next purchase.  It has every color I need and I really like that it's a one stop shop instead of having to dig around to find the color I want.

And last but not least the brushes you'll need to get the looks you're going for.  At first I was a person that would use the brushes that came with whatever I bought and if it didn't come with one I just made do.  I'm telling you, having a nice brush set makes all the difference.  Plus i'm not sure how you pass up this current deal.  If you go to Karity's site they'd charge you the $85 dollars.  The only brush I can't speak for is the foundation brush because I bought one from the e.l.f. line that I like to much too make the switch.

As for the rest of my products like mascara, lip products, and bronzer, those change depending on my mood.  But here's some info probably most of you didn't need that you got anyways :)  Happy shopping.

Hanover Vegetable Farm

Yesterday we headed over to Hanover Vegetable Farms.  They had pick your own pumpkins, a little country store, and cute little activities for kids.  We decided not to do the pumpkins because there's another pumpkin patch we're planning to check out next week.  But we didn't find some other things for the kids.  (There is a lack of Casen pictures because he was scared of every single animal we came to.)
In backwards order...

Local apples for a snack on the way home

Aryas new favorite thing is to turn her head or not smile purposely for every single picture.

We didn't attempt the corn maze because we weren't sure how the kids would do, but had to get a picture anyways :)

Fall Fun

Caleb and I have always said once we had a house of our own we would get a little decorating crazy for the holidays.  And here we are, our first holidays in the house.  Now, since this of course is our first year, we're slowly building our stock pile.  But we're getting there!  I hope our kids end up loving the celebrating all the festivities as much as we do :)  And of course not pictures is the ridiculous amount of  pumpkin/fall smelling candles/tarts we got.

I've decided i'm just going to change out these frames with the seasons.  It's a super easy craft for your kiddos.  I just drew two pictures that had something to do with fall and let them color (okay so I pre-selected the colors they were allowed to use to fit the color scheme I was going for,) but none the less, they colored, i cut and framed, and voila, free and cute decor!
